Friendbuy passes standard UTM parameters in all referral urls. Adding custom UTM parameters can help you accomplish various tasks such as analyzing referral traffic in Google Analytics, applying a session based discount to the Friend’s shopping cart, or even displaying a pop-up based on whether or not the customer came in from your referral program. You’ll be able to customize the values for the following parameters within Friendbuy: utm_source and utm_medium.

Editing Custom Parameters

  1. Log in to your Friendbuy account
  2. Navigate to Settings > Configuration > Custom Parameters
  3. Edit the custom value(s) associated with the parameters

If you’re interested in further customization such as adding new custom parameters, you can do so by passing the values via the widget code or in the destination URL. Custom parameters that are passed via the widget code will overwrite the values entered in the Custom Parameters Settings. The parameters for shares via email, Facebook, Twitter can not be updated however the parameters for PURLs will update with the custom parameter changes.
