Friendbuy's Offer Email system allows you to fully automate the offer fulfillment process. Offer emails are configurable for each email capture widget and consists of the offer email template and a coupon bank. Once you configure offer emails for a widget, Friendbuy will send an offer email to any visitors who submit their email address into the widget. Visitors who try to resubmit their email address to the same widget will not receive an offer email.

⚠️ The Email Sender must be configured before creating offer emails.

Creating an Offer Email

Navigate to Email CaptureOffer Emails. Click on Create New Offer Email.

Enter an email template name then enter an email subject. The template name will only be used within Friendbuy and will not be sent with the offer email. Your customers will see the subject when they receive an offer email.

Paste an html email template into the body or customize the default template.

There are two merge variables available to the template: {{ coupon_code }} and {{ sender_address }}. Place these tags where you want the coupon code and your business address to appear respectively. You may leave out the {{ coupon_code }}  if you are not using coupon codes with this template, but {{ sender_address }} is required.

Generating Coupon Codes

Using your eCommerce platform or a third-party application, create a list of coupon codes.  Make sure these codes are integrated with your website.  You also have the option of uploading PINs along with your coupon codes, these are used to reward customers with gift cards that require a pin, such as Tango Cards.

Tip: If you use Shopify, you can use Shopify's Bulk Discount App to easily generate a large quantity of coupon codes.

Export and save these codes to a .txt or .csv file with each code separated by a line break.  Coupon banks with PINs must be in a .csv file with coupon codes in the first column and the PINs in the second column.  If your coupon codes also use a reference ID, a third column with that data will need to be added as well.

Uploading a Coupon Bank

In Friendbuy, navigate to Coupons. Click on Create New Coupon Bank

Give the bank a name and description. These are only used for your reference. Click on Choose File and upload the file that you previously exported.

Note that processing the uploaded codes may take up to several minutes, so your new bank may not show up right away. Check back periodically to confirm that your bank was saved and that it has the correct amount of codes in it.

Configuring the Offer Email and Coupon List with the Widget

Navigate to Email CaptureWidgets. Click on the widget you'd like to configure.

Click Edit under the name of the variant you want to edit. This will take you to the Widget Builder.

Configure the coupons and/or offer email on the right side of the Widget Builder, under the section called Offer. The email capture widget can display the coupon in addition to sending out an offer email with the corresponding coupon code.

If you want to use a multi-use coupon code, select the No Coupon Code - I'll enter it myself from the Coupon Type dropdown. Then type the coupon code directly into the widget.

If you want to use your coupons, select the desired coupon list from the Coupon Type dropdown. After you select the coupon list, select the desired email from the Email Template dropdown. When a user enters an email address, the user will see the coupon code in the widget in addition to receiving an email with the coupon code.

The email template will not appear in the dropdown if the coupon code merge variable is not in the template.

That's all it takes to set up automated offer fulfillment with the email capture widget! You can either use the widget as a stand alone email capture widget or link it with your referral widget as the friend offer.
